Coronavirus outbreak: N.S. reports 1 new COVID-19 death after investigation

CA, 10 Jun 2020
Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil and chief medical officer of health Dr. Robert Strang provided an update on Tuesday regarding the coronavirus situation in the province.

During the briefing, Dr. Strang announced one additional COVID-19-related death in the province, a woman who died "a number of weeks ago" but the death was under investigation to confirm that the novel coronavirus was the cause of death. He said the woman was in her 70s and had underlying medical conditions, and her death brings the toll in Nova Scotia to 62.

One new case of COVID-19 was also announced. The new case brings the provincial total to 1,060.

The province added that the one new case was identified on Monday out the QEII Health Sciences Centre’s 578 tests.

The Nova Scotia government announced on Monday that it will be changing the way it reports cases of the novel coronavirus to ensure all publicly reported data comes from a single source. In a news release Monday, the province said all data will now be reported through Panorama, the province’s public health reporting system. The announcement comes amid confusion over how many active cases of COVID-19 there are in the province.
