Coronavirus: Trump believes wearing a mask amid the pandemic is a “personal choice” | FULL
CA, 30 Jun 2020
President Donald Trump believes the decision to wear a mask to help prevent spreading COVID-19, currently infecting record numbers of people in many places across the United States, is a personal one, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Monday.
"It’s his choice to wear a mask. It's the personal choice of any individual as to whether to wear a mask or not," she said, adding that Trump “has no problem with masks and to do whatever your local jurisdiction requests."
McEnany also responded to questions regarding Trump tweeting and then deleting a video on Sunday showing one of his supporters chanting “white power,” a racist slogan associated with white supremacy.
She said that Trump “did not hear that particular phrase” when he tweeted the video.
McEnany stated that the White House has invited eight members of Congress for a briefing on intelligence reports that Russia offered bounties to Taliban militants to kill U.S. soldiers. She said that Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said he would be briefing eight members "from the committees of jurisdiction" and there was a bipartisan invitation extended.
