Coronavirus: Manitoba education minister speaks on release of parents' resource package | LIVE
CA, 03 Sep 2020
Manitoba Education Minister Kelvin Goertzen addressed concerns on Wednesday that the release of a package of back-to-school resources for parents only a week before classes resume did not give enough time, saying he would prefer the resources were released in a good format now rather than a “poor” package a month ago.
Goertzen also said public health officials have indicated they intend to report on any COVID-19 infections in schools should one arise, but advised people to understand that if a student is confirmed to have COVID-19 it does not necessarily mean they contracted in the school or they were in the school at all. He said public health would look at where the case came from, close contacts and a possible vulnerability in a cohort or school and then make the announcement.
