CA, 13 Jul 2020
Fire crews were called to U.S. Naval Base San Diego on Sunday after a fire broke out on board the USS Bonhomme Richard, an amphibious assault ship with about 200 crew on board.
San Diego is the USS Bonhomme Richard’s home port and the ship was undergoing routine maintenance at the time of the fire. It’s not clear what caused the fire.
At least 18 sailors were taken to a San Diego area hospital after suffering minor injuries in the blaze on Sunday, Navy officials said.
