The future of fighter jet technology could be an AI-assisted, autonomous “wingman” drone that flies alongside next-generation aircraft, according to aerospace insiders said at the recent Farnborough International Airshow, in the United Kingdom. The second largest air show in the world, the event is a place for aeronautical companies to showcase their latest civilian and military technology. While UK efforts to develop a next-gen supersonic fighter made headlines, the talk on the expo floor during the June 2022 event was all about drones.
